Rep here we come
Topic: Weaving
Just got my birthday present to me. I ordered Joanne Tallorovic new book. It looks like this

I have been wanting to try some Rep Weaving for a long , and have wanted to get her book. I sure love Amazons used book feature. This one had a scratch on the cover. So I got a great deal.

The book looks really good too!. I think I need to plan a project.

Also have been drawing on the cartoon for the copper loom. I am doing a labyrinth in the center with perhaps a snake on one side and maybe some other symbolic things like hands and or spirals or . I am still trying to plan it. The labyrinth was a challenge to draw. I will throw a pic here when its complete.

It time for Stargate Atlantis...

Back to the Blanket
Now Playing: Carlos Nakai - Native American Flute
Topic: Weaving
Well I played with the blanket warp over the weekend. Figured out my string heddles to repair a mistake were not working so I retied them and that was good. Then I had one shed that wasn't the best so I played with the tie up on the Glimakra and now its great.

I planned to use this fine grey weft, but it looks too thin to me. The fabric looks really gauzy.

So I called my friend Amy for her advice, she suggested using 2 strands of weft, a thicker weft or beating tighter. Well a tighter beat made the fabric weft faced so I did not want that. So I am doing 2 strands of the grey weft.

Here is a pic of doubled weft..

I also plan to use a lot of the colored warp yarns as weft too, so I wound all these bobbins.

Here are my shuttles ready to weave......

Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: Trans Siberian Orchestra

Well I spent all last week preparing for Saturday's show only to be extremely dissapointed. Neither Ginger or I sold anything. It was very depressing as I was counting on the money from the sale. The one thing it did teach is that the venue was not for us. We need to go back to a private sale. We are thinking of doing a Spring show and see how that goes.

I woke up Sunday morning with a cold. I guess I overdid it and got a little rundown. Its is annoying to say the least.

This morning I am finally decorating the tree and house. Our tree has been up for 2 weeks with only lights and a couple ornaments on it. It is starting to look much better now.

Super Great News, My sister Marianne is coming for Christmas....Yipeee and she will stay with for awhile afterwards too! What a gift I am getting.

Here are my towels all finished

snow
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Kenny G
Topic: Weaving
Snow is falling, the wind is blowing a day to sit and knit but I have weaving to do. I have my towels on the loom. Here is a wip picture
These are a set oF green and beige towels. They will be easy to weave. I have enough for 6 towels on. I will weave some in beige some in green and some in the plaid you see here. Here is a wip picture.

I took the chenille scarf off, just need to wash it now. It was really hard to tell the colors apart when weaving it. I need to try more contrasting yarns next time.

I couldn't sleep again last night. zzzzzzzzzzzz
Found another error in the blue chenille scarf. GRRR. Decided that I need to tie on some warp as the only solution to fix. I am annoyed.

We got our tree the other day and the lights are on but mothing else I went to pickup this seramic gizmo we have for turning lights on and off and I dropped it. It broke in 5 pieces I am not sure if glue is a choice or not. I may just have to toss it.

I only had one person for spinning yesterday. It is starting to feel like too much trouble. I will do once more in December and then if thats a slop I will consider once a month before folding it entirely.

Back to the loom...........

Shopping Portal
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Weaving
Well my wine bag came out fine but the pictures don't show it that well. I need to work on better pictures.

Well the shopping portal opened up. Decided on the expensive comforter and it looks really nice. Got some nice flannel sheets too. Then I went to Fred Meyer and bought a Poinsettia and place mats they are green and red trartan woven in chenille with beads attached. I am not sure if I will keep the beads or not. They look nice though, my pic is a little blurry.

Finished Chenille shawl
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: wind from outside
Topic: Weaving
Tried to post yesterday but lost it all. So I am trying again today.

Washed the log cabin Chenille scarf and 2 things occured, it didn't shrink as much as I would have liked and the fringe has gone bonkers. The scarf is woven log cabin but it is hard to tell. I think its the shortness of the space dyed floats. Still looks nice if I can fix the fringe.

Here is a pic of fringe and scarf. I hope I can fix the fringe, by undoing it and retwisting it. We will see what happens. I also finished the shawl but no pics yet. I have to put knots in the fringe as it is already fraying. Homespun yarn is weird sometimes you can get away from not knotting every fringe but not this time.

Looks like I got 2 pics to come out but still am fiddling with the size issue.

Feel great this morning. Yippee. Went grocery shopping after taking sarah to school. It will be nice to have food in the house again. I have been weaving on the shawl. It looks like I can finish soon. these pics aren't great. The color doesn't come out too well, but I will share anyways. Still working on the cleaning and reorganizing of the kitchen cupboards. We decided to dump all our old tupperware. We have been buying these nicely stackable rubbermaid containers. They will take up less space and are all the same sizes which helps. I am also looking at other pots and pans and seeing what we never use and that will go to charity too! The whole process is one big cleanse and feels great. I picked up the new Harry Potter DVD and it will make some good entertainment while I weave. I have moved the tri loom to right in front of the TV and it works good so then I can weave in the evening with the family around. Well tripod is being weird again. It won't let me post 2 pictures I guess I will do it a second post.
